Buying guide

Which JOVI product is right for you?

Three ranges, three different jobs. Here is how Malaysian parents, teachers and crafters usually choose.

Air dry clay — for pieces you want to keep

JOVI Air Dry Clay hardens in open air, so nothing needs a kiln or an oven. A finished piece is permanent, sandable and paintable with poster, acrylic or watercolour paint. It is the right choice for keepsakes, school projects that get displayed, trinket dishes, ornaments and coursework pieces for IGCSE or IB. It comes in Pure White, Stone Grey and Terracotta in 250 g, 500 g and 1 kg packs. In Malaysian humidity, allow 48–72 hours of drying for anything thicker than a finger rather than the 24 hours printed on the pack — our drying-time guide has real timings by project weight.

Plastilina — for play and practice that gets reused

JOVI Plastilina is 100% vegetable-based and never dries out, so the same bars come back term after term. That makes it the workhorse for Pendidikan Seni Visual lessons, tadika play tables and modelling practice where the point is the process rather than the finished object. It is sold in Classic 6 and 10-bar packs and in Neon and Pastel 6-bar packs. Because it does not harden, it is not suitable for pieces that need to be kept or painted — for that, use air dry clay. Modelling tools — for detail and texture

The 3-piece and 5-piece JOVI modelling spatula sets are ergonomic plastic tools sized for smaller hands. They are what turns a smooth slab into something with surface interest: scoring for joins, stippling, cutting clean edges and pressing pattern. Most buyers add a set once they move past pinch pots.

Buying for a school or a shop

Orders above class quantity are quoted separately. Schools get tiered bulk pricing on plastilina, air dry clay and tools, plus free teaching resources — see school bulk pricing and the free teacher resource library. Retailers, bookstores and education suppliers can apply for trade terms on the stockist page.

Safety and certification

Every JOVI product sold in Malaysia carries EN71 and CE marking, tested to European toy-safety standards, and is manufactured in Spain by JOVI S.A., which has been making art materials since 1939. Air dry clay is suitable from age 3, plastilina from age 3 (2+ with adult supervision) and modelling tools from age 7 (3+ supervised). If you need the underlying test reports or safety data sheets for a school procurement file, they are free to download — and this explainer covers what each mark actually tests for.
